TSMA's Presidents Letter Fall 2022

Greetings to TSMA members, associates, and friends!

It is Manufacturing Month in Minnesota and that means it’s time to celebrate! Congratulations to all our manufacturers for your contribution to the creation of incredible products and an amazing quality of life in our state. You can be proud of the following stats:

  • Manufacturers in Minnesota account for 13.55% of the total output in the state, employing 11.36% of the workforce.
  • Total output from manufacturing was $52.01 billion in 2019.
  • There was an average of 310,000 manufacturing employees in Minnesota in 2020, with an average annual compensation of $80,899.60 in 2019.

I’d like to implore you to register and attend the upcoming TSMA luncheon meeting at the Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood next Thursday, October 13.  We will be hearing from Tim Peterson of OECS on What to do When OSHA Knocks. Following the presentation, we will be touring Massman Automation Designs in Villard. It will be worth your time and effort to attend.

Be sure to check out the featured member article on Advanced Machine Guarding Solutions, a follow-up article on the 2022 Golf Social, an article on the Midwest Manufacturers Conference, and an update on the latest news on our Manufacturing Career Dream Team.

MMA is kicking off a new series of webinars focused on workforce development that take place the last Wednesday of month at 11 am. Register to attend the first webinar is October 26 at 11 am that will feature Clare Richards of Impacks with a presentation titled: Cracking the Code to Rising Stars: How to Find, Motivate, and Create Engaged Young Leaders.

Please nominate fellow TSMA members for a board position by November 4. Election will be happening in late November. TSMA is also looking for speakers, manufacturer tours, and sponsors for upcoming meetings. Please contact Alisa with your ideas and information.

I would also like to encourage your registration and participation in all our upcoming events. We are here to help you succeed, but we need your help and your participation for us to continue to succeed!

I hope to see you at the Luncheon Meeting on October 13!

Best Regards,
Mark Petersen
TSMA President
