TSMA President's Letter - June 2021

Greetings to TSMA members, associates and friends. I am both encouraged by the progress TSMA has made and challenged by the many ways that we can be even better together

First, significant changes are coming to the leadership and management of TSMA. Sandy Kashmark, the Executive Director of Midwest Manufacturers Association, our central office, is stepping down from her position. Sandy has been an incredible leader and will be deeply missed!! The MMA sustainability committee is in the process of evaluating staffing needs, management proposals and taking applications for her position. Read more.

TSMA has been the proud sponsor of the Manufacturing Career Dream Team (previously the Dream It Do It Manufacturing Career Dream Team) for three years. This initiative allows emerging manufacturing leaders to serve as role models to K12 students by their presence in classrooms and events. TSMA is committed to this initiative to help alleviate workforce shortages. A fundraising campaign is underway to help fund a TSMA Outreach Specialist position that will expand the reach of the Manufacturing Career Dream Team. Charitable donations can be made to the TSMA Foundation, PO box 150, Elbow Lake, MN, 56531.

Be sure to check out the feature article on Lynnes Welding Training and the Volunteer bio on Melissa Olheiser.

TSMA uses all proceeds from this event to support youth manufacturing initiatives in the region. Please help us raise $11,000 to benefit youth programs!

Jennifer Byers of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce is confirmed to share highlights of the “Minnesota 2030” report at theTSMA dinner meeting on September 14 at the Eagles in Fergus Falls.

TSMA will again be part of continuing efforts to enlighten and educate the public on the importance of and pathways into careers in our industry with the statewide Tour of Manufacturing in October. Additionally, we will be hosting the Stein and Wine Fest on October 7 in Alexandria.

We’re also thankful for the excellent meetings we’ve shared recently. Our sessions have addressed timely issues and critical topics including home office ergonomics, liability exposure working from home, reimagining education in Minnesotamarketing for manufacturersemployer health plans, and more. We appreciate all those that delivered relevant and helpful information, solutions, and action steps to our members.
Sincere thanks for your investment in and contributions to TSMA!

In service,
Mark Peterson
TSMA President
