Soon to launch: TSMA Manufacturer and Educator Solution Group

In support of its 2020 Goal Statement, TSMA is excited to announce the upcoming launch of a Manufacturing and Educator Advisory Group. This new strategy will provide a forum for real-time conversations between TSMA’s manufacturing and K-12 members. The anticipated outcome is a fresh approach in ongoing efforts to raise awareness of manufacturing careers and fill the skills gap.

Troy Haugen, Director of Career and College Readiness at Lakes County Service Cooperative, has graciously agreed to inform the agenda and moderate the discussion. Troy brings a wealth of inside knowledge on issues like teacher licensure, education policy, rural education and funding opportunities. Troy’s work history includes more than 20 years in education, as a teacher, school principal and superintendent.  Amy Johnson, TSMA Assistant Director, will serve as the Group’s staff liaison and head cheerleader. Rounding out participation will be three career counselors/work based learning coordinators from amongst TSMA’s K-12 members and three board/manufacturing members.

More to come as we finalize the participation list and schedule the Group’s first Zoom meeting. Quarterly meetings are anticipated, or more frequently if conversation warrants. To learn more, watch for updates in this newsletter, on TSMA’s social media feed, or reach out to Amy Johnson.
