Letter from TSMA president - August 2020

Hello TSMA members!

As the summer is quickly winding down, we would normally be experiencing all the things associated with the start of a new school year.  But as you know things are not normal. As so many of us are facing a new normal perhaps you can take some comfort in knowing that TSMA is still here and ready to help west central Minnesota and western Dakotas manufacturers. TSMA continues to convene, to facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices and to provide our members with meaningful services and resources in changing market conditions.

After surveying our members, we learned 50% would attend in-person meetings. Armed with that information we scheduled an outdoor TSMA meeting on September 1 in Alexandria. Enjoy networking and updates from a few Alexandria community leaders in an outdoor setting. Watch for other upcoming events this fall. Our team will continue to evaluate when and how to safely meet in person. We’ve been successful with online delivery and the webinars have been well received.

The 27th annual Golf Social was a huge success! Nearly $10,000 was raised in support of manufacturing-focused youth programs in the region and fun was had by all. TSMA on Tap was held on August 12 in Battle Lake. A good time was had by all.

In lieu of a candidate forum, the TSMA board decided to distribute a survey to candidates running for a seat in the MN House and MN Senate districts in the TSMA region. The survey will focus on manufacturing-relevant issues. Watch for results of the survey.

Please read your TSMA emails for continued information on events and training opportunities, as well as important information for you and your businesses future.

TSMA, we’re in it together. We’ll get through it together.

- Mark Petersen

TSMA President
